FUEL EXHAUSTION AS A RESULT OF THE PILOT FAILING TO PERFORM AN ADEQUATE PREFLIGHT INSPECTION OF THE AIRPLANE. THE LACK OF SUITABLE TERRAIN ON WHICH TO MAKE A FORCED LANDING WAS A FACTOR.
